Experienced and Qualified Diver

A fully trained, experienced, and competent diver who is considered capable of leading other divers of any certification level on open water dives.

Prerequisites

Must be at least 16 years old
Must hold a CMAS Greece Two Star Diver (E.O.U.D.A.T.K.) certification or equivalent.
No specific number of dives is required to begin the course.
Must have completed a minimum of 60 dives at the time of certification, of which 20 must be deeper than 30 metres.

Course Content

Knowledge

Participants should have a basic understanding of:

Diving physics and physiology, including the causes, consequences, and treatment of diving-related illnesses and disorders.
Diving first aid, life-saving techniques, and hold a valid DAN Oxygen Provider certification or an equivalent first aid organisation certification.
Problems associated with dives beyond 30 metres, air consumption requirements, and the correct use of decompression tables.
Dive site selection, dive planning principles, and the selection and evaluation of divers.
Principles and practices of seamanship and small boat handling.
Risks related to marine flora and fauna, as well as local and weather conditions.
Legal responsibilities towards divers.

Skills

Assessment

Under the continuous assessment system, the above knowledge and skills will be evaluated throughout the course. The certification will be awarded only if the diver is considered to have reached the required level.

To achieve the CMAS Greece Three Star Diver (E.O.U.D.A.T.K.) level, candidates must demonstrate during the programme their ability to perform the following skills under diving conditions:

Demonstrate the ability to swim 1,500 metres using mask, fins, and snorkel (or without equipment using any swimming style), followed by a surface dive to 10 metres to retrieve an object.
Demonstrate the ability to support themselves and/or an injured diver at the surface after a rapid 100-metre surface swim, followed by a 20-second dive, ascent with a maximum surface interval of 10 seconds, and a further dive to 3 metres to retrieve a 1.5 kg mannequin, which must then be towed on the surface for 50 metres.
Swim 1,000 metres on the surface wearing full scuba equipment and using a snorkel.
Demonstrate competency in self-rescue and buddy rescue techniques to a depth of 30 metres, including towing the casualty to the surface.
Demonstrate the ability to navigate underwater, both with and without the use of a compass, during a dive.
Demonstrate the ability to handle ropes and tie knots underwater.
Be able to actively participate in the operation of a dive boat travelling at normal speed.
Be able to lead an underwater group while maintaining control, following a dive plan and route, and returning safely to the surface from any depth.
Demonstrate the ability to use dive plans and nitrogen loading tables, as well as competence in selecting and positioning dive sites.

A test, using oral and/or written examinations, must be conducted to verify the diver’s level of knowledge.

The assessment shall normally be carried out according to the rules of the National Federation and must be conducted by an instructor of at least CMAS Greece Two Star Instructor (E.O.U.D.A.T.K.) level and confirmed by the appropriate National Technical Committee.
